Appledore Smuggling and Shipwrecks - the truth! David Carter - Friday 19th April

We've all heard stories about smuggling, but what really went on? How prevalent was it, and who was involved? David Carter will be presenting his own research on the truth about smuggling in Appledore. He will also be talking about how common shipwrecks were in the age of sail, including the worst night in North Devon's history when over 100 men lost their lives in a single shipwreck.
